Overview

Conduct quality inspections, witness tests, assist engineers in reviewing construction documents, and provide technical input on construction issues.

Scope of work

  • Identify and initiate complex site inspections for various disciplines in compliance with applicable codes and/or specifications.
  • Monitor construction schedules and costs.
  • Provide technical guidance to Quality Inspectors or other Quality Specialists.
  • Promote implementation of quality control (QC) policies and standards in project support.
  • Potentially oversee other Field QC staff on assigned project sites.
  • Perform quality inspection on materials and workmanship.
  • Witness quality tests as required.
  • Assist engineers in reviewing drawings, method statements, HIRARC, and relevant construction documentation.
  • Help review inspection and test plans, inspection checklists, QC reports, and other documentation.
  • Attend quality and technical meetings.
  • Provide technical advice on construction issues such as design changes, non-conformance, deviations, work sequence, and subsurface conditions.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move, walk long distances in confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
  • Full range of motion and flexibility; repetitive movements.
  • Work at heights above 5 feet; climb and balance on steel frameworks, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
  • Perform up to 12-hour shifts of hard physical labor in extreme temperatures and outdoor conditions.
  • Exposure to cramped spaces, varying lighting, inclement weather, hazardous equipment, and noise.
  • Includes office environment work.
  • Position is safety sensitive.

Key requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years experience with a degree or minimum 5 years without a degree
  • Able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements
  • experienced in instrumentation or control-system
  • Inspection of pressure, temperature, flow and level instruments; transmitters; switches; analysers; control valves/actuators; thermocouples/RTDs; junction boxes; impulse tubing and instrument air tubing
  • Exposure to DCS, SIS/ESD, PLC, SCADA, turbine control systems and package-control interfaces
