Cost Controller

Overview

Monitor and control project costs against budgets; prepare reports; analyze variances; support forecasting and cost evaluation.

Scope of work

The Cost Controller will

• Monitor and control project costs against approved budgets and forecasts.
• Track actual expenditure, commitments, accruals, and forecast costs.
• Prepare and maintain project cost reports and cost-control documentation.
• Analyse budget versus actual costs and identify significant variances.
• Support preparation and updating of project forecasts and Estimate at Completion (EAC).
• Monitor purchase orders, contracts, invoices, and other project cost commitments.
• Maintain project cost breakdown structures and cost coding where applicable.
• Support cash-flow and expenditure forecasting.
• Work closely with project management, planning, procurement, and finance teams to maintain accurate cost information.
• Highlight potential cost overruns, trends, and financial risks to the project team.
• Support evaluation of project changes and their potential cost impact.
• Assist with monthly project reporting and management reviews.
• Maintain accurate and auditable project cost records.

Key requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Project Management or relevant discipline
• Relevant cost-control experience within oil & gas, energy, EPC, construction or similar project environments
• Good understanding of project budgeting, cost monitoring, forecasting and variance analysis
• Experience handling actual costs, commitments, accruals and project forecasts
• Familiar with project cost reporting and cost-control processes
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and cost reporting/analysis
