Overview
Manage daily financial transactions, reporting, budgeting, compliance, and provide financial analysis and support to leadership.
Scope of work
- Responsible for daily financial operations transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Liaise for all financial reporting requirements and compliance of PSC terms with Partners/Government.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reporting requirements internally and externally to authorities, work programme and budget, corporate budgets, and forecasts.
- Prepare statutory accounts and other statutory reporting adhering to Brunei financial regulations, tax laws, IFRS, and corporate accounting policies.
- Ensure accurate recording of all expenses and proper documentation for billing, including monitoring and reconciling inter-company transactions.
- Monitor budgets and conduct variance analysis working directly with operational leads; identify cost control initiatives and report on execution of work programme and budget activities.
- Maintain appropriateness of all General Ledgers for corporate entities.
- Ensure financial reporting controls and accounting processes comply with Group policy and statutory legislation.
- Handle all tax matters and filing requirements ensuring local statutory compliance; manage local tax compliance and remittance of any local sales or service taxes and withholding tax regulations.
- Provide business development and M&A financial support.
- Manage internal and external audits related to financial activities.
- Conduct financial reporting risk assessments and establish key financial controls and frameworks.
- Implement and maintain robust internal financial controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.
- Review financial clauses of operational contracts to ensure alignment with budget and policies.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with finance departments in Malaysia and London.
- Maintain a safe working environment, complying with the company’s HSE&A policy.
Key requirements
- - Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- - Professional accounting qualifications highly desirable (ACCA, CPA, CIMA).
- - Minimum 15 years of progressive finance and accounting experience including leadership roles.
- - Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and taxation in Brunei.
- - Oil & gas experience within an E&P operator environment, preferably with Brunei and/or Southeast Asia PSC exposure.
- - Excellent oral and written communication and team management skills.
- - Logical and creative problem-solving abilities with high influencing skills.
- - Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Maximo and Sun Systems) and advanced Excel skills.
- - Results-focused, detail-oriented, with high integrity and ethical conduct.
- - Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a matrix reporting structure.
